Last week the Finnish music pros announced their picks the most promising Finnish musicians.

The first one is Huoratron. That stands for whoretron. This is not the freshest piece from that Gameboy musician, but the video is still pretty good.

We give him extra points for looking like famous Finnish cross country skier Juha Mieto.

Mietaatron

The other one is a bit softer. Shine 2009. Some more on their myspace. They don’t look like any of our athletes, but we let them pass as their music has some merit.

This short video by Studio Julmahuvi is a crash course to Finnish culture. Some of it may be lost in translation.

‘From frosty grounds to the icy lands’

Today we love bicycles. A nice track by Helsinki 78-82 and a video directed by Miika Saksi, published early this year. It’s just cruising in Helsinki. Helsinki 78-82 is a project by some Top Billin guys.

Yes it’s not summer anymore in Finland and to many it means putting bikes into shelters. Talking about bikes, look at these. Pelago Bicycles is a local shop that started designing their own bikes in 2009. Nice home grown entrepreneurship. To get inspiration how to ride a bike year round have a look at Mikael Colville-Andersen’s blog Copenhagen Cycle Chic. This interesting Danish blogger just added some photos from his visit to Helsinki.

Of course there is Jopo too, Volkswagen of bikes.
