Here is some finnish music we like. A lot. Femme en Fourrure. We can only say, ah sweet.

Ok. You get the drift. Listen and like. Here is their myspace.

Menswear designer Fernando Korpi launches his new Man Of The Woods SS 2011 collection. Inspiration comes from traditional Finnish themes such as wandering around the nature, lumberjacks and laid back cottage life. We also like cottage cheese.

Go and see more here.

Well, we got a good reason to post Ivana Helsinki, a Finnish fashion label run by designer Paola Suhonen.

This week they’ve participated in New York fashion week as the first Finnish brand. As they got publicity, they got also sued by Ivana Trump for trademark infringement. Noting that “Ivana” is Paola’s middle name it’s quite amusing. This is what they said:

“Given the quality of the IVANAhelsinki line and the sophistication of its purchasers and devotees, there is no likelihood that anyone in the relevant consumer group will, for even a moment, suspect that there is any affiliation with Ivana Trump” (NYPost)

Haha. Have a look at their clothes too:

“The best sauna movie anyone’s ever likely to see.”Variety

Steam of Life (Miesten vuoro) was yesterday chosen to represent Finland in Oscar Awards (Best Foreign Language Film). Spot on. This documentary let’s men talk about their lives and emotions in the most holy place, the Finnish sauna. The picture drawn is both accurate and touching, even in the trailer.

For anyone who has lived in a small Finnish town this video makes perfect sense. Ramin Kuntopolku is an urban grind duo from Jyväskylä and this is a video from their first tour. You don’t need to understand Finnish to get the drift.

Samuji also know as Samu-Jussi Koski, the ex creative director for Marimekko, has put together a new collection.

Looking good, smelling smooth.

More pics by Juliana Harkki in liisajokinen.com. Liisa Jokinen is a Finnish fashion blogger. She also runs the best and probably the only Helsinki street style blog Hel-looks.

Futuro House is a strike of genius of designer / architect Matti Suuronen. Unfortunately many people seem to gravitate towards different kinds of housing forms even though Futuro has been around since the late 60s.

Futuro house also featured in another Finn hit, Jimi Tenor’s Year of the Apocalypse video. Space priest = WIN.

As everybody knows, Santa Claus is from Finland. Now, here’s a classic Finnish short film shot by Jalmari Helander in 2003. It’s about Santa hunters.

“It’s only the rare elite of the rifle men who ever get to aim at one.”

What is even better is that after a sequel Mr. Helander got funding to make a feature film which is out this Christmas. Here’s the trailer. Looking forward to it.

If you can’t go to Helsinki next weekend you might want to consider at least checking out this book called By Night by Miika Saksi

Here’s a preview:

Oh god I miss wearing my Hugh Hefner tobacco gown in a bar.

Originally we bumped into this here (another very succulent blog, Naked Lunch and Other Stories).

Villa Nah’s debut album is not as recent as you might expect to see in a blog post but we only started and still after several months we really like them. They are a Helsinki based act recording on legendary Sähkö Recordings.

Check more of their stuff on Villa Nah’s myspace.

P.s. If you are a fan of hit tracks this is theirs.
